TENS – Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation:-
Transcutaneous Through the skin. Electronic Using controlled electrical impulses. Nerve Fibres that transmit signals, including pain, to and from the brain. Stimulation Introduction of corrective signals for the nerve fibres to transmit. TENS Machines are used for assisting the treatment of many different types of pain and operate using 9 volt very low voltage.
Types of TENS Machine's - Broadly speaking there are three types of TENS machine:
* Combination TENS - EMS machine.
* Hand Held TENS machine.
* Minature TENS machine.
Combination TENS machine such as our MH8000 TENS machine combines both TENS and EMS in a single unit. This is the best type of TENS machine, since the combination TENS can alternate between assisting stopping pain in TENS function and assist muscle building with EMS function.
What is PAIN? Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. The sensation of pain is transmitted by nerve fibres to the brain.
Pain can have a potentially detrimental affect on the body, if it is left untreated, by causing the sufferer to “Guard” an injury. This guarding could lead to other soft tissues, now bearing extra weight, to become imbalanced and painful.
What Pain is TENS useful for? TENS can be used for many types of pain (examples listed below) both acute and chronic.
- Ankylosing Spondylosis
- Bursitis
- Cancer Pain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Cervical Spondylosis
- Fibrositis
- Myofascial Pain
- Nausea & Vomiting
- Neck Pain
- Neuropathy
- Occupational Overuse Injuries
- Osteoarthritis
- Osteoporosis
- Peripheral Nerve Injuries
- Phantom Limb Pain
- Post Herpetic Neuralgia
- Post Operative Neuralgia
- Prolapsed Disc
- Referred Pains
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Scar Tissue Pain
- Sciatica
- Shingles
- Sponylitis
- Sports Injuries
- Sprains
- Stress & Insomnia
- Strains
- Tendonitis
- Whiplash Injuries
- Low Back Pain
- Plus Many Others
The effectiveness of TENS therapy is completely dependant on specific cases. Some people have reported to have noticed changes straight away while others need to persevere for longer period.
