Combination TENS EMS Therapy Machines:
A combination TENS EMS unit provides the user with the versatility of two products within just one unit. The benefit of opting for the combination units are that an injury pain can be reduced, while also assisting in the muscle fibres are being rehabilitated.
TENS – Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation
Transcutaneous:
Through the skin.
Electronic Using controlled electrical impulses.
Nerve Fibres that transmit signals, including pain,
to and from the brain.
Stimulation Introduction of corrective signals for the
nerve fibres to transmit.
TENS Machines are used for the treatment of many different types of pain and operate using low voltages.
EMS – Electronic Muscle Stimulation
Electronic:
Using controlled electrical impulses.
Muscle Contractile tissue used for the stabilisation
and movement of the Skeleton.
Stimulation Introduction of corrective signals for the
nerve fibres to transmit.
Electronic Muscle Stimulation, also known as Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) or Electromyostimulation, refers to the encouragement of muscle contractions through the introduction of an electrical impulse. These impulses mimic the action potential coming from the Central Nervous System, causing the muscles to contract.
EMS is used, in medicine, for rehabilitation of muscles as well as preventing Disuse Muscle Atrophy (deterioration of inactive muscle tissue) after injury.
A Combination TENS EMS machine such as our MH8000:
MH8000 model combines both TENS and EMS in a single unit. This is the best type of TENS machine, since the combination TENS can alternate between the pain killing TENS function and the muscle building EMS function. Since, if you have an injury the EMS function alone may cause discomfort and pain, so the TENS will help to reduce or totally eliminate the pain of EMS function being used in sensitive areas.
