What is EMS?
EMS – Electronic Muscle Stimulation.
Electronic.Using controlled electrical impulses.
Muscle.Contractile tissue used for the stabilisation
and movement of the Skeleton.
Stimulation.Introduction of corrective signals for the
nerve fibres to transmit.
Electronic Muscle Stimulation, also known as Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) or Electromyostimulation, refers to the encouragement of muscle contractions through the introduction of an electrical impulse. These impulses mimic the action potential coming from the Central Nervous System, causing the muscles to contract.
EMS is used in medicine, for rehabilitation of muscles as well as preventing Disuse Muscle Atrophy (deterioration of inactive muscle tissue) after injury.

Four Stages of pain
The 4 stages of pain refer to the progression and effect of pain experienced by chronic sufferers.
As you can see, from the diagram above, a pain sufferer can be adversely affected both emotionally and behaviorally. A Study by James B. Wade, PhD, and Robert P. Hart, PhD found there was also a correlation between stages 3 & 4 and diminished attention. These results demonstrated that suffering pain into stages 3 & 4 could have a marked effect on the persons’ ability to function as effectively in their everyday lives, e.g. work. This could possibly have implications for a sufferers’ ability to maintain employment.
